Chamber Orchestra
The Philadelphia Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra was formed several
years ago as a complement to the full symphonic orchestra. This
group of twenty-five to thirty musicians performs standard literature
for string orchestra and presents two or three concerts a year,
typically in smaller performance venues. The chamber orchestra
rehearses for an hour and a half on Saturday afternoons before
our full orchestra rehearsal. Any string player who is a member
of Philadelphia Sinfonia is eligible to participate. No additional
audition is required.
Playing in the chamber orchestra lets our student musicians study group playing in an intimate setting, with expanded repertoire possibilities and attention to the individual.
